54th Annual Celebration of African Liberation Day - Pan Afrikanism or Perish
The Center for Pan African Studies is delighted to support this big event.
There are moments in history where people had a choice — to look away, or to stand up. To assimilate, or to organize. To survive in silence, or to rise in solidarity.
We are living in one of those moments right now.
This May 22nd and 23rd, the African Liberation Day Organizing Committee invites you — challenges you — to be present for the 54th Annual Celebration of African Liberation Day in Detroit, Michigan.
Fifty-four years. Fifty-four years of refusing to forget. Fifty-four years of honoring the struggle, carrying the vision, and passing the torch.
This year's theme does not whisper. It declares:
"Pan Afrikanism or Perish."
Not a suggestion. Not a slogan. A diagnosis — and a prescription. If we are going to survive as a people, as a diaspora, as a civilization — we must unify. We must organize. We must build together across borders, across oceans, and across generations.
And who better to deliver that message than Dr. Arikana Chihombori Quao?
Physician. Activist. Former African Union Ambassador to the United States. A woman who has stood before heads of state, before international bodies, and before everyday people — and said the same thing every time: Africa must be free. Africans must be free.
Dr. Quao is not coming to entertain you. She is coming to awaken something in you. Do not miss it.
Here is what you need to know:
